Exactly what DSL technology are you using? What DSL chip are you using?

We use SDSL and G.Lite ADSL.

Our SDSL technology. The CopperEdge SDSL card used in our CE-150 DSLAM employs a Brooktree Bt8970 DSL chip. The same chip is in the 3com, CopperRocket, Netopia, and Xpeed modems that we use. You can see a PDF data sheet for the Conexant RS8973 transceiver which is a present-day chip providing pin-for-pin compatibility with the Bt8970.

These chips use a standard HDSL 2B1Q (two binary, one quaternary) encoding which is spectrally compatible with POTS service. It is a symmetric service which is well suited for videoconferencing and VPN applications. They can provide 1.5M bps speed at a distance of 11,000 feet over 24-gauge wire. By comparison, the longest loops in our system are about 7,000 feet.

Our G.Lite ADSL technology. The CopperEdge G.Lite ADSL card used in our CE-150 DSLAM employs a Conexion chipset that is standard for G.Lite ADSL. The modem that we use is the Alcatel Speed Touch Home ADSL modem.
