Steps for doing inside wiring

This is a general outline of steps to do when doing inside wiring for DSL for the Coop.

Decide where to put the SDSL modem. Ideally this is in a location that already has a spare pair of wiring to the network interface device.

Put a jack there. Make note of the modem jack location.

Plug in a tone generator there.

At the NID, find the pair with the tone on it. Make note of the inside wiring pair color.

Tag that pair with a tag, marked with the NID position

Unplug the tone generator. Plug in an SDSL modem. Connect it to power. Make note of the MAC address of the SDSL modem.

Update "details" page to show NID position and modem MAC address and jack location and inside wiring pair color.

If you are installing inside wiring after the Coop has launched service and after the subloop has been installed:

Give the subscriber the "welcome" sheet which details the DNS settings, IP address, netmask, gateway, and SMTP settings.
